Cub Scouts from Second Paulton recently had a visit from Adel Avery, who talked about the work of the Somerset Bat Group.

This group was formed in 1985 to help protect bats in the county, which is home to 16 of the 18 species of British bats; the group still hasn’t given up on finding the other two. The Cubs went on to make model bats and will make bat boxes as part of their DIY and Conservation badges. They will be making a bat collage from leaves and bark, which will be displayed in their headquarters and taking part in a Bug Hunt at the beginning of next month.
