The new housing development at Monger Lane, Midsomer Norton may soon be paying tribute to some well-known and respected members of the community who are no longer with us.
At Monday evening’s Town Council meeting, Councillors considered a recommendation from the Operations Working Party to forward to B&NES the names Richmond, Sutton and Kingston with the original idea being that as a royal borough, Richmond would be a tribute to the Queen’s 90th year.
However, Councillors suggested honouring some of the local members of the community using the surnames of those who have passed away recently, such as local artist, David Fisher, teacher, Norman Voake and solicitor, Ted Hallam. Further
consultation will go ahead, with the final decision ultimately with B&NES and the developer.
