Thank you everyone for solving last week’s actual Mystery! We are reliably informed that it was the once village shop in Writhlington.

Dennis Chedgy says: “It is Granny Walters’ village shop and she is stood in the door way, probably in the early 1900s.

“The shop stood at the entrance to Green Parlour Lane, removed when it was demolished in 1928 and the site became a petrol forecourt for the new Gills garage.”

So, the next question is, does anyone have a photograph of the garage that replaced the shop?

Thank you also to Val Montague for the correct answer and to the other correspondents, who thought it could be the small shops in Midsomer Norton, for taking the time to get in touch.

We are back to collieries again this week – but can you guess which one? If you think you know and would like a mention, please email: [email protected] by 5pm on Monday next week to be included.

A very big thank you to Radstock Museum who support this popular feature.

The Museum will be hosting a free Advent Window Trail on Saturday, 27th November from 11 am – 5 pm, a one-way trail to see mini lit up advent Christmas window scenes. Please wear a face covering for the event.

Part of the trail will be available for paying visitors from Saturday, 13th November.

The museum shop will be open for Christmas shopping but the tearoom remains closed.

The Museum’s Advent Window Trail is being sponsored by Radstock Town Council. The event takes place before the town’s Christmas Light Switch On at 4.50 pm.
