Last week’s Mystery Photograph was another brilliant scene sent in by Radstock Museum, it shows The Square at Wellow and was supplied to them by John Phillips from his personal collection.

John Phillips captioned the photograph: “Again taken in The Square at Wellow, this time outside what was The George Inn which was closed many years ago, long before my time!

“The date written on the back of the photo is 1910 but once again have no idea of who the people are.

“I am also puzzled as to who in the village would have had a carriage and horses like that.”

Many thanks to those who sent in their guesses, but who guessed Wellow correctly?

Well done to: Lesley Beard, Pamela Pike, Phil Bodman, Ian Beeho, Keith Gillard, Rita Beeho, Richard Edwards, Sybil Perham.

Many thanks to Jonathan Griffin who said: “This week, we are again in sunny Wellow at ‘The George’ pub, which is now a dwelling house.

“In the photo, two of the upstairs windows have been bricked in, tax reasons?

“All five upstairs windows have now been reinstated, the houses in the background are happily still much as they are in the photo.”

Thank you to Radstock Museum for supporting this feature and supplying our Mystery Photographs.

Next week’s (below) is a complete mystery - even for Radstock Museum.
