A SINGING duo covering the music of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are offering an evening of live jazz.
One reader will have the chance to win four tickets to Bennett and Gaga: The Duets Songbook, a live jazz theatre show in Frome celebrating the Grammy Award–winning collaborations of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.
Developed by singers Andrew Bourn and Hannah White, the show draws on the Grammy-winning albums recorded by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, which helped reintroduce classic swing and standards to a new generation of listeners.
Mr Bourn said: “Those albums showed that this music isn’t stuck in the past. It can feel modern, exciting and relevant, whether you’re a lifelong jazz fan or hearing these songs for the first time.”
Rather than a traditional jazz concert, the production is staged as a hybrid of theatre and live music, with storytelling, dynamics and visual atmosphere shaping the evening. Backed by The Dawkes All Stars band, the show moves seamlessly between lush ballads and high-energy swing numbers, allowing the songs, and their lyrics, to drive the emotional journey.
Audiences can expect classic songs by Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, including Cheek to Cheek, Anything Goes and Night and Day, delivered with old-Hollywood glamour and a contemporary edge. “This music carries so much joy,” said White. “We want audiences to forget the world for a couple of hours and leave the theatre feeling uplifted.”
