The Dunkerton WI met on 10th August. We do not usually meet this month, but we decided to have an extra meeting as some compensation for those missed during lockdown.

The speaker for the evening was Bath tour guide, Sally Helvey, who gave us a fascinating and illustrated insight into the areas of Bath that are not usually flagged up on the usual tourist route. We were also given an update on the Cleveland Pool project which is of great interest to many in our group.

Following refreshments (including homemade cakes) our business included news of our July walk around Kilmersdon, which ended with a hearty lunch at the Joliffe, and news of the next walk near Compton Dando. We also discussed potential day trips, the next scheduled for late September to the Bristol harbourside.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 14th September at 7.15 pm in Tunley Recreation Centre. Our speaker will be Dawn Lawrence from the Born Free Foundation, an international wildlife charity, talking about endangered species. Visitors welcome. Jan Binns
