Last weekend Midsomer Norton Mayor, Paul Myers, was lucky enough to catch the train being hauled by the visiting Jinty locomotive, which had been cancelled the previous weekend, due to snow.

The Heritage Railway was very grateful for the grant from Midsomer Norton Town Council, and wanted to thank the Mayor for his support. He said: “I was so glad that I hadn’t missed the Jinty Loco before it went back to the Great Central Railway. It’s incredible how much has been achieved by the volunteers at the station since my last official visit.”

The volunteers are also looking forward to the next VIP guest, the Easter Bunny, who will be hiding Easter Eggs for children on Easter Sunday and Monday. Stephen Lacey, Chairman of the Heritage Railway Trust, said: “When we see visitors of all ages are enjoying the fruits of our labour, that is undoubtedly our greatest reward. Knowing that families can come to the station on events like these, and leave with beaming smiles, gives the volunteers great satisfaction.”

On Sunday, 1st April and Monday, 2nd April, the station will be offering rides behind little steam loco, Joyce and there will be an Easter Egg Hunt round the station. The station opens at 10.30 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.
