There was excitement in the air as children from Trinity Church School in Radstock returned to school on Monday after months of home learning – finally able to see their friends, but also enjoying the brand new playground equipment, which was officially opened by members of the PTA, representatives from Radstock and Westfield Big Local and Bigwood Play Systems, a local company who made the playground a reality.

The PTA have spent the past three years raising funds for some of the new playground quipment, with match funding from Radstock and Westfield Big Local helping the project and a beautifully bespoke wooden structure designed by Bigwood Play Systems.

Executive Headteacher, Mrs Michelle Parsons, said: “This has been in the pipeline for a number of years, but we just couldn’t find what we wanted until we met Mark at Bigwood. He was able to design exactly what we required and the children absolutely love it!”

With the match funding from Big Local, the school were also able to commission an outdoor learning shelter. Deputy Head, Mrs Natalie Jones, added: “Previously, we could only have a campfire on dry days, but now the children can enjoy the benefits of outdoor learning all year round.”

The children couldn’t wait to test out the new play area. “It’s the best play equipment I’ve ever been on!” said Hope, Year 5. Berry, Year 6, said: “It’s amazing, amazing, amazing!”

Trinity Church School would like to thank the PTA for all of their hard work to raise the money and to Big Local for their financial support.
