Last week saw the children at Longvernal Primary School participate in lots of different sporting activities to help raise awareness of how they can lead a healthy lifestyle. The school is making this a priority in the light of the negative impact of the pandemic on children’s health.
The children were very lucky to be taught by a variety of coaches, incorporating Bath Rugby NextGen, Camvale Tennis Club, Somerset Cricket Foundation, pentathlon, dance and orienteering workshops to name but a few. The children thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the different sports; even some of the staff joined in! A definite buzz was created, made even better with some dry and warmish weather!
Alongside this, The Daily Mile was introduced to the children and staff, which encourages at least 10-15 minutes of movement, at least three times a week. Again, the children are loving the ‘brain break’ and becoming more active which is helping to boost their fitness levels even further!
PE Lead, Jess Collins, explains: “Moving forward, Longvernal Primary School will promote healthy lifestyles and improve fitness levels through many more fun and engaging activities and events.”
