Children at Longvernal Primary school have overcome winter lockdown blues by getting creative.

Taking an idea shared by Bath Rugby Foundation, the Parent Teacher and Friends Association sourced craft packs for every child in the school, the majority of whom are currently having to learn remotely in line with lockdown guidance.

The PTFA provided everything a child would need to create a colourful stained glass window on a theme of their choice,

together with instructions.

The children were then able to put these up in their windows and also send them into school so that a ‘collage’ could be made of their completed artwork to display online for all to enjoy. Many families are going on daily walks and are now able to try and spot their school friends’ artwork in local windows whilst doing so.

Headteacher, Karen Bazeley, said: “Feedback from parents since the January lockdown suggested that the children at home really crave interaction with their friends and miss opportunities to work together. This lovely idea from the PTFA proved very popular with children and parents alike, adding a bit of variety and excitement as they shared their end products.”
