Eight-year-old Joscelin McCutheon, from Midsomer Norton, arranged a three-hour, non-stop danceathon to riase money for Children in Need.

Nikkita, Joscelin’s mother, said: “Joscelin came to us one evening last month and asked ‘Mummy, when is Children in Need? I would like to be a part of it, and help children who don’t have what I have.’

“Joscelin designed a poster, recorded a video and we posted it on Facebook to spread the word and we set up a Just Giving Page. Her goal was to raise £100, and she generously sold one of her toys and donated the £10 from it to her page.”

Nikkita continued: “On the evening of Friday, 17th November, I am so proud to say that she completed the three hours without stopping, and we are so so proud of her. We posted regular video updates on Facebook to family and friends so they could see her progress, and some of her family visited and joined in for the last fifteen minutes with her. She danced so hard, she had sore toes!

“As of Sunday morning, her Just Giving Page has reached an amazing £221.50, and she cannot believe how much people have helped her raise.”

Joscelin said: “I don’t know what to say, I’m really thankful to everyone who has donated, and is still donating to my Just Giving page! I can’t believe how much you have all helped me raise! I only thought I would raise £100, so thank you so so much.

“I hope that all the children I am helping will have a better life. Last year, the money raised helped a little boy who has cerebral palsy to swim, and a little girl who is blind to learn to play music, and I hope the money you have helped me raise will help more children. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Nikkita said: “All of her family are so proud of the kind and caring little girl she is growing into, and we feel so lucky to have her.”
