A young show jumper from Temple Cloud, Ella Newman, has recently enjoyed great success at the David Broome Event Centre in Wales, winning the Leading Ride Prize at the Winter League final.

Ella was jumping her pony, an Irish sports pony, ‘Mooney’s Boy’, who regularly competes at the centre. She won her class by, what appears to be a large margin on the clock, some 12.96 seconds. This superb performance by both Ella and Mooney let them win the one metre gold medal and the 90cm silver medal.

Ella is just sixteen-years-old, and under the rules of the show jumping association, will move onto horses next year and to this aim she has purchased Ivy Storm, a 5-year-old Irish Sports horse who is showing great promise. Having already bought Ivy, the pair will be able to start competing to build up a good and successful relationship.

Ella has owned Mooney’s Boy, aka Duffy, for four years and she says of him: “I just love him to bits, he’s a dream to own and ride. He always tries his best. That weekend is one I won’t forget for a long time, it was fantastic with a really great atmosphere.”
