A SOCIAL enterprise based in the Chew Valley has announced a family-friendly wildlife celebration at it’s farm overlooking Chew Valley Lake.

The Community Farm delivers organic food across the local area and champions nature-friendly farming.

It is hosting a Wildlife Discovery afternoon on Saturday July 4, celebrating wildlife with a fun afternoon of exploration and learning.

Some very special guests will be coming along including Somerset Badger Group, so come ready with any questions you'd like to ask these fascinating creatures.

Mendip Hills National Landscape will be on hand enlightening visitors with a wildlife walk and talk and discussing the Mendip Hills champion species.

Make gorgeous insects to take home under the guidance of local clay artist Helen Hooper, who volunteers her time at the farm.

The talented Buzz and Scuttle, a personal project by illustrator Marian Hill to help raise awareness of our declining insect population, will be in the yurt hosting pollinator collage workshops.

Discover all about the wonderful birds and insects who make the farm home on discovery walks, all whilst taking in the views of Chew Valley Lake.

A whole host of activities are also planned including wildlife discovery walks, nature connection, pond dipping, discovery trails, and insect-themed crafting.

Not to forget the chance to have a wild face painting, take part in the famous farm wildlife quiz and race your very own beautifully designed butterfly - no real butterflies will be harmed in the process!

The Roundhouse Cafe on the site will be open selling refreshments including the farm’s organic apple juice and seasonal sustenance based around fresh produce from the fields, as well as some sweet treats baked by volunteers.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 4 and from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
