THE annual Westfield Christmas light switch-on will mark the start of the festive season, with the much-anticipated Christmas Tree lighting event bringing together local residents and visitors for an evening of festive celebration and community spirit.

The event held on Thursday, November 27 at Elm Tree Avenue, Radstock (BA3 3SZ) promises an evening of family-friendly entertainment, festive music, and seasonal treats, with residents invited to join in the countdown as the Christmas tree lights are officially switched on.

Father Christmas will be in attendance to meet visitors and hand out small gifts to children, while free refreshments, including hot chocolate, mulled wine, and mince pies, will be available.

The evening will feature performances from the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band, who will play a selection of festive favourites to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

Last year’s celebration also coincided with festive activities on the High Street in Midsomer Norton, where local residents and businesses enjoyed mulled cider, seasonal treats, and live brass band performances.

The event is free and open to all members of the community. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to experience the full programme of performances and activities leading up to the official Christmas Tree lighting.

Last year Cllr Phil Wilkinson, chairman of Westfield Parish Council, said: “The Christmas Tree switch-on is a wonderful community occasion. It brings everyone together, spreads festive cheer, and marks the start of the holiday season. We look forward to seeing families and friends enjoy another magical evening.”

The event is organised by Westfield Parish Council, which coordinates the programme of performances, activities, and festive attractions throughout the evening.
