THE 87th Clutton Flower Show & Village Day is set to offer a wide variety of activities and entertainment for all ages when it takes place this autumn at Rudge’s Field in Clutton.

On Saturday, August 9, the event will include a main Flower Show marquee featuring exhibits of flowers, vegetables, cookery, crafts, children’s classes, and more.

Visitors can take a break in the Tea Tent, which offers tea, coffee, cold drinks, homemade cakes, a licensed bar, and various food stalls. Live music will be performed throughout the afternoon and evening by two local bands, Loophole and Martin Radford, as well as a performance by the Men of Chew Choir.

There are displays of classic cars, tractors, motorbikes, and a steam engine, providing a nostalgic experience. Entertainment includes horse displays by Mendip Farmers Pony Club, Radford Shirehorses, a local pony and trap, and Shetland ponies.

The Historia Normannis Medieval Re-enactment offers insights into 12th-century life, including opportunities to try archery. Additional attractions include Clutton’s Strongest Competition, children’s entertainer Lucy Lost It, a Fun Dog Show, Dog Agility Show, Somerset Morris Dancers, a local cheerleading group, and pygmy goats.

Mary Payne’s Gardening Question Time will feature the renowned BBC Radio gardening expert, who will be available to provide advice on a range of gardening issues, including problems with indoor and outdoor plants as well as plant pests and diseases.

In addition, a raffle will be held with tickets priced at £1 each. Prizes include a £200 cash prize, £100 worth of gardening vouchers, a £100 toiletries hamper, a free MOT, a £50 meal voucher, among other rewards.

Admission to the event is £4 for adults, while children under 16 may attend free of charge when accompanied by an adult. The event offers a variety of activities and attractions suitable for all ages.
