A WONDERFUL evening was spent in Westfield celebrating all things community at the parish council’s grant award presentation and ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards’ evening.

Westfield Parish Council hosted its annual Grant Scheme and It’s Your Neighbourhood presentation evening on Thursday, December 4, held at the welcoming West Hill Sports and Community Centre, who also provided a delicious buffet enjoyed by all.

Guests were treated to a photographic display, courtesy of the Norton Radstock Photographic Society, whose members curated an impressive exhibition of their work for attendees to admire throughout the event.

The council said this year’s It’s Your Neighbourhood participants “demonstrated exceptional dedication and creativity with their gardening”, with the following awardees recognised on the evening:

Waterside Valley obtained a ‘Level 4: Thriving’, while Larch Court Allotments and the Westfield Allotment and Gardening Society (WAGS) both picked up the ‘Level 5: Outstanding’.

Although not in attendance, Fosse Way School and Westfield Primary School also achieved top recognition, both receiving Level 5: Outstanding.

Attention then turned to the many valued organisations receiving support for their tireless work through the Westfield Parish Council Grant Scheme. The council was pleased to be joined by representatives from numerous community groups, each of whom shared insights into their work and the positive impact the grant funding will have on their projects.

The evening concluded on a high note with a suitable performance from the members of Westfield Voices.
