FROME-based charity Purple Elephant is hosting a range of free activities for families during the summer holidays, open to those living in Frome and surrounding villages, and to any family in Somerset with additional needs.

The programme runs throughout August and offers children and parents the chance to take part in fun, inclusive sessions, many of which include a free hot meal provided by Fair Frome.

Events kick off on August 6, with “Fun in Welshmill Woods” from 10am to 2pm, featuring a walk, games, and an allotment visit.

The following day, August 7, there will be a Family Cookery session from 10am to 1pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall. On August 8, families can enjoy a full day at WOLT in Thoulstone Park, including kayaking, climbing, and archery.

The second week begins with River Fun on August 13 from 2pm to 5pm, featuring a scavenger hunt and river awareness activities. On August 14, there are two events at The Key Centre: a morning session with Mojo Moves and crafts from 10am to 1pm, and an afternoon neurodiverse-friendly arts and crafts session from 2pm to 5pm. On August 15, there is an accessible multisports session at Victoria Park from 10am to 1pm.

Multisports returns on August 20 from 2pm to 5pm, followed by an Arts and Crafts session on August 21 from 10am to 1pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall. The final event is on August 22, with bouldering and crafts at Frome Boulder Rooms from 9am to 12pm.

Booking is essential, and families are asked to register for just one session per week, listing a first and second choice. To book, email Rebecca at [email protected]. A suggested donation of £2 per child applies. Family support workers will be present at all events.
