AUDIENCES looking for fast-paced, unpredictable comedy are in for a treat with ‘Instant Wit’, the quick-fire improvisation show.
Known for its sharp wit and inventive humour, ‘Instant Wit’ delivers a completely live comedy experience shaped entirely by audience suggestions.
Each performance is unique, featuring a mix of sketches, songs and spontaneous silliness, all created on the spot by a highly skilled ensemble of performers.
Instant Wit will be performing at Chew Stoke Village Hall on Saturday, January 31, at 7.30pm.
Instant Wit describes itself as “a bunch of very Unusual Suspects forever on the run from the Comedy Police,” promising an evening of laughter with a slightly unusual edge.
Audience members are encouraged to get involved, whether by shouting out ideas during the show or writing them down in the interval for the performers to use later.
Suggestions can lead to anything from a folk song about a cat on a skateboard to a surreal scene set in 10 Downing Street with unusual speaking rules.
As an added incentive, particularly good ideas may even be rewarded with flying packets of custard or, for the very best, a bottle of wine.
Unlike televised improvisation, Instant Wit is entirely unedited and unrehearsed, raising the stakes for the performers and adding to the excitement for the audience.
The show has earned high praise from critics, with The Guardian describing the performers as “conspicuously skilful,” and The Bristol Eight calling the production “a show of surreal, mad-cap improvised hilarity.”
Instant Wit cast members regularly appear for performances at venues such as the Tobacco Factory, Theatre Royal Bath and the Bristol Old Vic.
Tickets are £16.17 for adults and £13.48 for under 18’s.
They can be purchased via ticketsource.
The show is suitable for ages 12 and up, no refunds are available.
