A NEW six-week seasonal growing course this autumn will give people the opportunity to learn organic gardening skills, with sessions combining practical guidance and time spent in nature.

Starting Wednesday, September 10, at The Community Farm in Chew Magna, the six-week course offers participants a hands-on introduction to organic fruit, vegetable, and herb growing.

Designed for all levels of experience, it combines practical skills with seasonal inspiration, helping learners make the most of any growing space — from allotments and gardens to balconies and windowsills.

No experience is necessary. Whether you have a windowsill, a full garden or an allotment, you’ll gain the tools and confidence to start, wherever you are. The course will also help participants to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy the growing process alongside others.

The course is designed to help participants reconnect with the seasons and their own growing spaces, while learning the basics of organic cultivation in a straightforward and accessible way.

It also encourages creative approaches to small-space and low-maintenance gardening, explores what can be planted, harvested, and enjoyed throughout the current season, and aims to build confidence by enabling people to grow alongside others in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Set in a beautiful learning area overlooking Chew Valley Lake — with raised beds and a forest garden — this is a welcoming, informal space to ask questions, experiment, and enjoy the process. Group sizes are kept small to allow for tailored guidance and plenty of shared discussion. A shared, seasonal lunch is included in the price.

Enjoy spending time on the farm’s beautiful organic land overlooking Chew Valley Lake. Learn seed sowing, composting, no-dig methods, forest gardening, and seasonal crop planning, all in a small, supportive group.
