Wednesday, 19th April sees the second concert in a new lunchtime series at St John the Baptist Church, Midsomer Norton BA3 2HX.

Syrinx Trio – Claire King (clarinet), Martin Gatt (bassoon) and Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) will perform a varied programme of music for woodwinds and piano, including pieces by Max Bruch and Frank Bridge, Reverie by Camille Saint-Saens and a little-known but beautiful piece by Jules Massenet: Sous les Tilleuls (Under the Lime-trees).

Jacquelyn and Claire are both well-known musicians who have performed at St John's in earlier lunchtime series; Jacquelyn is a pianist with Trio Paradis who give monthly concerts, normally in the Town Hall.

Martin Gatt is something of a legend in the musical world, having played in most major UK orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra – with whom he recorded many well-known film themes - and the London Philharmonic.

Entrance is free with a retiring collection; proceeds to support the church and the musicians.

Lunchtime refreshments - including rolls/sandwiches, tea and coffee - are on sale from 12.30pm. The concert begins at 1pm and lasts approximately 45 minutes.

All welcome!
