The Tabor Ringers based at Tabor Church in North Road Timsbury, recently held their 30th Anniversary Concert.

Tabor Ringers were formed in January 1993 by Joan Chivers, the wife of the Pastor of Tabor Church at that time, John Chivers.

Twelve hand bells had been given to the village of Timsbury more than seventy years ago, but had not been used for some time. The then Rector of St Mary’s Church, Timsbury, the Rev John Reed, was happy for Joan to have them to form a hand bell group. Ten people came forward and since then the group has gone from strength to strength entertaining at local venues.

Joan was able to travel from Poole to be with us for this milestone, and several past playing members also came along. Photographed cutting the Anniversary cake are Ms Angie Poole, (current leader) Mrs Joan Chivers, Mrs Dianne Carter and Mrs Freda Brimble – founder members.

The Ringers held an Anniversary Tea on the following Monday and are now looking forward to a few weeks rest before resuming rehearsals in September.

The group’s contact is Secretary Mrs Barb Spalding on (01761) 752177.
