CHEW Magna residents soaked up the sun as they enjoyed an entertaining afternoon as Party in the Paddock took place.
Organised by the Chew Magna Society, the event was held on Sunday, July 13, at the paddock next to Chew Valley Cricket Club.
Special guest musician Adam Isaac would entertain the crowd with a live set, while the Congresbury Brass Band added a traditional touch with a pair of performances throughout the day.
Alongside the musical entertainment, there was a wide range of games for people of all ages to engage with, such as egg and spoon races, sack races, giant Jenga, water games and more.
Sports fans would be kept entertained as the Wimbledon final was shown in a dedicated viewing tent, while a friendly game of cricket was also hosted.
There was also plenty of food and drink for guests to indulge in. Kelly’s Butchery and Chew Kitchen provided a barbecue, while Chew Chat had a stall providing tea and cake. There would also be a visit from Chew Moo’s ice cream van.
A bar was also present to provide refreshments under the heat, with Pimms, strawberries and cream and other cooling beverages being popular among visitors.
The free event is part of a wider calendar of community gatherings organised by the Chew Magna Society, all designed to bring neighbours together and celebrate village life.
Jacqui Cozens, chair of the Chew Magna Society, said: “The Chew Magna Society has been around a long time with the primary purpose of bringing residents together with fun and free events. It really adds to the community feel of the village and we love doing it.
“It was such a hot day on Sunday and we were delighted to see so many people coming along to join in the festivities with a Pimms or two.”
