THE Peasedown Environment Group (PEG) welcomed the MP for Frome and East Somerset to their meeting on May 27 where they thanked her for facilitating the resurfacing of a stretch of cycle path between Wellow Horse Livery Centre and Midford.
The group say that MP Anna Sabine (Liberal Democrats) was instrumental in getting the project over the line.
This cycle path, known as NCR 24, is said to be vital off-road link crosses farmland along the former Somerset and Dorset railway line and is famous for the Two Tunnels on its route into Bath.
Sustrans charity and custodians of The National Cycle Network leases the old railway line from the landowner; they worked hard to complete the work in just two days so as to cause minimum disruption. The surface is compacted aggregate providing a flat and therefore easy route for cyclists and walkers.
PEG member Rowan, worked to contact various stake holders including Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) Council, Sustrans and Anna Sabine to raise awareness of the state of the path and push for the resurfacing project to be undertaken.
PEG have also expressed gratitude to the landowner, Cllr Sarah Warren, Jon Legge at B&NES Council and Alistair Millington at Sustrans for their support.
