When the temperature goes down, the heating bills go up… but they might not have to rise as much as you think.

Farrington Gurney are holding a Warmer Winter Fair on the 15th October at the Memorial Hall from 2pm to 6pm and will be offering advice, talks and demonstrations on how you can help manage your heating bills this coming winter.

The whole afternoon will be dedicated to ways of saving money, consuming less energy and making communities healthier, safer and cleaner.

Organised by the Parish Council and the University of Bath, presentations will be given by Cold Homes Energy Efficiency Survey Experts (CHEESE), Steve Cross from Go Green Widcombe, Kate Thomas from the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Midsomer Norton’s Deputy Mayor, Councilllor Gordon Mackay.

Councillor Gordon Mackay, said: “With the current energy crisis and costs spiralling, there’s never been a more important time to find ways to be energy efficient.

“Understanding how your heating system works and making simple changes can save people a great deal.”

“Just because I’m originally from Scotland doesn’t mean I particularly like cold weather, but I do like saving money! Please come and join us to learn how you could hopefully cut your bills and keep warm this winter.”

Hot drinks and cakes will be provided by the Rotary Club and the bar will be open throughout the day.
