The Valley Arts team is gearing up for their amazing summer season with some top flight entertainment in May.

If you’ve ever been enthralled watching Sir David Attenborough’s incredible wildlife documentaries on television, then you’re in for a treat, as Valley Arts is bringing Sir David’s multi award-winning wildlife cameraman, Doug Allan to Ubley Parish Hall on Saturday 13th May.

‘Nature, Camera, Action’ is a fascinating insight into Doug’s many adventures filming series including Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Human Planet and Frozen Planet. His work presents a truly spectacular view of the world around us, and Doug’s shelves are stacked with awards include eight Emmys and five BAFTAs.

‘There are big days when animals behave spectacularly right in front of your lens’ commented Doug. ‘And other quieter times when a deeper understanding reveals itself, a new awareness of the environment and what lives there. I’ll be talking about my most memorable encounters’.

Meanwhile, if you’re in a comedy mood, Valley Arts is bringing Living Spit’s One Man and his Cow to Compton Martin on Friday 26th May. This is a rural romp written and performed by ‘the Morecambe and Wise of Weston Super Mare’ (The Daily Telegraph), featuring a multitude of agricultural antics and farmyard frolics, all told with homespun charm and wit and entirely in rhyme and song.

Valley Arts is also launching monthly Open Mic evenings, starting Tuesday, 16th May at Chew Stoke village hall. If you’re a keen amateur musician keen to play in front of a friendly local audience, this is for you. These are unplugged sessions, hosted folk musician, singer-songwriter and farmer Susanna Waters, who’ll be pulling some other musicians out of the hedges to guarantee you an evening of magical musical moments.

Tickets for all events are available on the Valley Arts website: www.valleyartscentre.co.uk
