TWO enterprising young pupils from Westfield Primary School in Radstock recently held a bake sale to celebrate the National Year of Reading.

Niamh and Paige asked for donations of tasty cakes including cupcakes, biscuits, tray bakes from members of staff, parents and friends.

They organised for a team of Year 6 children to sell them after school on the playground, raising more than £80 for new books for the Key Stage 2 school library.

The duo purchased a selection of books including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Peanut Jones and Guinness Book of Records.

A Westfield Primary spokesperson said: “It was very successful and we are so grateful for our new resources. The books have been a great addition to the school library.”
