On Saturday, 6th September, the woods at Silver Street Nature Reserve were alive with people enjoying the opening of the newly-restored Springhead.
Our Guests of Honour were four ex-miners as the Springhead was built by mine sinkers in the late 1700s and we thought it fitting for them to be recognised.
Our Mayor, Paul Myers, unveiled the plaque telling the story of the house and area as it was then.
Sainsbury's supplied some elderflower cordial, which was delicious and we thank them for that, also Izzy for making a special celebration cake that was much admired, as it was decorated with leaves and small woodland creatures, as well as having the logos for B&NES, Midsomer Norton Town Council, the Somerset Miners Welfare Trust and Silver Street Nature Reserve. Food was provided and a good time was had by all.
