As has become customary for families there will be Bouncy Castles, Face Painting, Punch and Judy, Goat Rides, Balloon Modelling, Drumming Workshops and much, much more.

Live music will take place from local performers including Chumley Warner Brothers, Eagle Alley, Jiggedy, Stray Dogs, Swallow Choir, Sue Harding and the Midsomer Norton & Radstock Silver Band as well as displays from Dweahmah Dance, Old Bakery Artists, Norton Radstock Photographic Society and the CAM Valley Morris Men. There will of course also be the celebration of community creativity that is the Town Show.

This year’s Maypole Dance Festival will also sees almost one hundred and fifty local school children taking part in the main arena outside the Somer Centre.

There will be displays of art and photography as well as food, community and craft stalls, a bar and the popular tea room with delicious cakes and sandwiches.

Parc Skateboarding are also bringing a Skate Jam to the town’s World Class skate park. The Jam is free and for all levels of ability no need to book in advance just turn up on the day – it will include Skateboarding, BMX and Scooting as well as graffiti workshop. Skate Jam organiser Lucy expressed her delight at Skate activities returning to the Fayre saying that: “Skateparks build and sustain healthy communities. As a gathering place for dedicated, athletic youth, the skatepark provides the forum for visitors young and old, beginning and skilled, to meet and share experiences. For many skateboarders, the skatepark becomes a home-away-from-home.

“The day will feature ‘Best Tricks’ , ‘Rider of the Day’ and lots of throw out prizes, we want it to be a fun for everybody.”

The family friendly event will take place from 12noon until 4.30pm in the Town Park, Skate Park and Somer Centre. The event is organised by Midsomer Norton Community Trust in conjunction with a wide range of community groups and is sponsored by the Town Council and local businesses.
