After many months of negotiations, the Farmborough Community Shop Committee says it has good news for all.
On Tuesday, 10th May, the Shop Committee met with representatives of Farmborough Parish Council and the Memorial Hall Committee to sign a mutual agreement for the future use of a strip of land behind the Memorial Hall.
At the same meeting, a lease agreement was also signed between the Parish Council and the Shop Committee, providing a legal basis for this piece of land as the site for a much-needed community shop.
The Shop Committee has been working hard for many months, applying for grants and gaining funding from the local community. Next steps include a comprehensive ground survey of the land, applying for planning permission, and getting the shop built with the aim of opening its doors in Spring 2017.
To help build the shop, donations and membership subscriptions are also welcomed from residents and businesses in and around Farmborough village. A fundraising event on Farmborough Recreation Ground is also being planned for the summer.
