On the journey to the course it was extremely cold and visibility was less than 150 yards. Then suddenly on entering the main gates it was as if by magic, unexpectedly beautiful blue skies appeared. Uncanny but most graciously received.
With frosty fairways and al dente greens (just how I like them!) it was a test of determination and concentration to get through 18 holes. But that’s winter golf folks. With the heavy frost the main issue was what colour ball to use!
The top five teams were in the money for this Seniors Bowmaker with the best two scores to count.
First Chris Liberty/Jeff Kelly/Andy Baird 91 points
Second Charlie Bentley/Paul Brown/Bob Baker 90 points.
Third Steve Banfield/Roy Matthews/Steve Hobbs 88 points.
Fourth Martin Hares/Rob Thain/Steve Mitchell 88 points.
Fifth Andrew Vaile/Steve Brixey/Andy Roper 87 points.
Phil Button and Brian Brown were the only two players to get a two on their card so a few shillings going their way!
On Wednesday the 15th February, Steve Ball will be sworn in as our new Seniors Captain taking over the reins from Alan Smith. Well done Alan you have enjoyed a fine year as Captain and can now relax and put your feet up - I don’t think so!
