The Bath Festival comes to Radstock and Midsomer Norton next week with spoken word, poetry and storytelling events forming part of the programme that takes place across the area.

On Wednesday, 24th May, the first ever Young People’s Laureate for London, Caleb Femi, will perform at Victoria Hall in Radstock (7.30 p.m.) As a poet, Caleb’s commissions include the Tate Modern, The Royal Society for Literature, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Guardian.

Caleb has graced major stages, such as the Roundhouse mainstage, Barbican, British Library and Royal Festival Hall. He has also opened up for singer, Lianne La Havas and has performed at many festivals including Latitude, Edinburgh Fringe, Boomtown, Lovebox and Greenbelt to name a few. Caleb has also won the Roundhouse Poetry Slam and Genesis Poetry Slam and is a champion of spoken word grime.

On the following day, Thursday, 25th May, Richard Selby and David Metcalfe return to Midsomer Norton to play a new storytelling show at Midsomer Norton Town Hall (7.30 p.m.). Hear the story of Lilith, Adam’s first wife and of Conal Crovi – branded an outlaw, but one who was responsible for the survival of a Great Irish King. With ballads of Ghosts and Dead Knights, this performance explores the worlds of heroic

outcasts and outsiders. This event is only suitable for over-16s.

The Bath Festival is a new flagship festival for Bath and North East Somerset, featuring ten days and 130+ events featuring the biggest and brightest names in literature, words and music; celebrating the world heritage city of Bath from 19th – 28th May 2017. The festival supersedes the Bath Literature and Bath International Music Festival.
