The Westfield Inspirational Citizen is an Award to those local people who make our lives better. The first Award, in 2018, went to John Reynolds for his commitment to the health and well-being of local people through the Westfield TT Running club and promoting Westfield in events country-wide.

Since then, the Parish has recognised the work of Martin Bates (2019) for his tireless commitment to Westfield Allotment and Garden Society, Catherine Cooper for her recycling via Terracycle in 2020 and an exceptional year in 2021, with three joint winners – Debbie Maggs, in recognition of her community spirit to engage residents of St Peter’s Road in social activities during a difficult year of lockdowns; Mike Chivers, who was seen almost daily collecting litter and Nigel Swift, for his continued hard work on the Waterside Valley. He has kept the pathways mown and vegetation controlled in part of the valley for many years.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, 25th February. The award is usually presented at the AGM in March, but even if this meeting has to be cancelled, the Parish Council will make sure that the Inspirational Citizen is recognised in some way.
