Brenda Fisher, the widow of the well-known local artist, David Fisher, has presented a print of her husband’s work, ‘Let Battle Commence’, for Writhlington Flower Show’s raffle, which will be held today (Saturday, 20th August) at Writhlington Village Hall.

Receiving the print, which depicts the first appearance of the Bath to Bournemouth train in Radstock, were Flower Show Treasurer, Ian Chant and Chair, Rob Langley, (pictured). David was a judge for the Flower Show and he and his family have supported the event for many years. Money raised from the weekend’s show raffle, which will feature David’s print, will help pay for next year’s event.

The committee is looking forward to welcoming everyone from 2.30 p.m. on the day, with entries for the show welcome, including flowers, vegetables, crafts, photography, jams, cakes and a section for children, with schedules available locally, including at Radstock Co-operative and Jones’ Store, Writhlington.

There will also be a children’s mini-Olympics, in homage to the games, complete with medals and a podium, and the Mendip Brass Band will also be playing. There will be teas, skittles, stalls and much more on the day. Everyone welcome!
