Round-about Radstock returns to the town next Saturday, 20th May. The free, one-day Community Arts Festival, which brings arts, entertainment and exploration into the heart of Radstock, will be looking to build on last year’s success as it enters into its third year.
The annual celebration offers a jam-packed day of entertainment, arts workshops for children and adults, street theatre, food and a pop-up mini-market.
Performers from the Natural Theatre Company and Desperate Men will open the festivities at 12 noon and then up until 5 p.m. festival-goers can listen to live music from the Victoria Hall’s Acoustic Sessions in the field behind St Nicholas Church centre; enjoy storytelling in Radstock Library, join a lantern-making workshop in Leigh House garden, and learn how to play musical instruments, like the Cello, in Radstock Working Men’s Club.
Not forgetting, you can wander through the mini-market selling crafts, upcycled furniture, and delicious foods and find out about exciting local projects that you could get involved with, like the restoration of Snails Brook weir into a beauty spot.
There will be all of this, amongst many other fun activities for everyone to get involved with on the Round-about Radstock trail. People who complete the trail of arts activities will also receive a free burger from the SWALLOW charity café, while stocks last.
Whether you want to take the children out for the day, quietly have a cuppa in the SWALLOW café, get crafty or dance in the sun to live music, then this day has something for everyone. So pack up your supplies, and spend a day in Radstock!
DNA arts are looking into forming an event steering group in Radstock to help make events like ‘Light the Night’ and ‘Round-about Radstock’ happen again.
