Members of the Radstock Co-operative Society voted to support Freewheelers EVS as one of their chosen charities of the year at their AGM held on 15th June 2016 at the Radstock Working Men’s Club.
Each year, the Society seeks applications from charities and community groups to
receive a financial donation and the support of the Society to help raise awareness of the specific cause. This year, a record number of applications were received and a shortlist was drawn up and voted upon.
To mark the occasion of the start of the Freewheelers’ year of support, the Society’s President, Jeremy Fricker and Vice-President, Graham Jeffery, presented a cheque for £1,100 to volunteers, Chris Nourse, Chris Kearns and Wilf Hodgson last week.
Vicki Przytocki, Head of HR and Communications said: “We are proud to be supporting this vital service which relies totally on donations and fund-raising activities. It is an entirely voluntary service which transports vital equipment, medical supplies, medical records, specimens and life-saving products, such as blood and antidotes, across Somerset.
“We hope that during the year, we can raise awareness of the cause and their team of dedicated volunteers, many of them local residents within our trading areas, who give up their time to respond and react to emergency and life-threatening situations.”
