A MUSIC night will be held in Timsbury next month to raise funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
The music night, which will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 8pm at the Timsbury Royal British Legion Club, will feature classic music from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, where it will cost £3 for admission.
Although this will be the 13th year that this event has been held, the circumstances surrounding it will mean that the event carries more weight.
This comes after Stuart Collins, of Camerton, was suddenly taken ill while playing football at Writhlington Sports Centre back in March.
A person in attendance was able to administer first response with CPR and using a defibrillator, managing to resuscitate Stuart.
Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance was called, where they were able to carry on with treatment and and quickly transported him to Bristol Royal Infirmary where he underwent immediate surgery to insert two stents to his heart. This was shortly followed by further surgery to fit another two a little later.
Stuart is now well on his way to a full recovery.
He was told that if it wasn’t for the very quick thinking action by the person who came to his aid and the air ambulance, it was quite likely that he would not have survived.
The Great Western Air Ambulance Service estimates that each mission attended to by their crew costs around £2,200. The includes the running cost for the helicopter, the crew and all of the specialist equipment and drugs that they use,
Alongside the initial admission fee, there will also be a raffle held at the music night, where prizes such as an inflatable Eagle Sport Kayak SE330 could be won by those who enter.
