Residents across Bath and North East Somerset will be sent reminders over the next three weeks so that they can sign up to or renew their Garden Waste Collection Service.
However, as with our waste collection, there will also be changes to garden waste services. The Council says that as there is little garden waste collected in the winter months, they will be suspending collections between 3rd December 2018 until 1st March 2019, which will mean no collection of Christmas trees by local crews. The Council says that alternative collection methods for trees are being explored, with more information to follow.
Approximately 20,000 residents currently use the fortnightly charged-for service. The cost this year has been frozen at £44. Cllr Bob Goodman (Conservative, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Development and Neighbourhoods, said: “The amount of garden waste we collect over the winter months does not justify the use of a vehicle. By stopping collections over this period we’ve been able to freeze the cost of the service to residents. At £2.20 per collection, we still think this represents good value for money. Residents will still be able to take garden waste to Recycling Centres for free over this period.”
Residents are asked to renew their service with payment by 11th May 2018 to ensure there is no disruption to your collection. Once payment is received and processed, you will be sent a sticker to show that you have paid. You should receive this by 31st May 2018. Stickers should be placed on bin lids as proof of payment for collections crews. If you haven’t received your reminder letter by the end of April, please contact Council Connect on: 01225 394041.
