Bring your mobiles and tablets along to learn more on a family heritage walk around Radstock. Do you want to see where Ludlows coal mine used to be, right in the heart of Radstock? Do you want to know where the mineshaft was and see if it is still there?
Stop at other historic landmarks in the town and compare the view today with old photos from the museum collection. There will be things to spot along the way, with a quiz.
Return to Somerset Coalfield Life at Radstock Museum for a free drink in the café, followed by activities, including adding the finds from your walk onto maps and the computer, and designing a postcard for your area, plus lots more.
Alice, from the project ‘Know your Place’, will be your guide, and you will meet her inside the museum at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 31st May for a short introduction and for the children to put on high-viz vests. The walk will take around an hour and activities inside the museum afterwards continue until 5 p.m. Your museum ticket will also give you free entry to the museum for a whole year, so you can come back as often as you like.
Please note: the heritage walk is suitable for ages five and above. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Please wear sensible shoes and dress appropriately for outdoor weather. Maximum of fifteen places.
Please book online at: www.eventbrite.co.uk and type into the search for events box: ‘Know Your Place family fun at Radstock Museum’. Further questions to the Know Your Place project on: 01454 863779.
