Willmotts Transport, which was founded in 1918 and now has more than 100 vehicles in its fleet, provides supply storage and distribution services to a variety of blue-chip companies locally, nationally and internationally specialising in the fast-moving consumer goods market.

The new premises brings Willmotts Transport’s total warehouse capacity to more than 300,000 sq ft, as the business looks to capitalise on the strong demand within the supply chain.

The business has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and now employs more than 150 members of staff. Providing logistics support for the food and drinks industry meant Willmotts Transport could continue operating during the COVID-19 lockdown and is emerging from the pandemic in a strong position.

With the addition of a further premise in Midsomer Norton, the haulage firm now has seven warehouses across Somerset. It will also allow the business to consolidate customers’ stock more centrally and reduce its reliance on smaller rented satellite operations.

Andy Stott, Managing Director of Willmotts Transport, said: “This acquisition comes at a period of strong growth for us.

“We were fortunate in that we could continue operating during the various COVID-19 lockdowns and we saw strong demand from our customers within the supply chain.

“This funding from NatWest has allowed us to capitalise on that demand, almost doubling our capacity with this new premises.”

The deal was managed by NatWest Relationship Director, Michael Mills, and Ian Hussey, Relationship Manager at RBS Invoice Finance.
