Midsomer Norton’s Project Linus, part of a national community interest group donating blankets and quilts to families of children in hospitals, are appealing for craft donations from the public to enable them to continue their much-needed volunteer work for the RUH’s neo-natal babies and children’s wards.
Linda McGregor, Bath, Wells and Surrounding Areas Co-ordinator for Project Linus UK, told The Journal: “The local Midsomer Norton Project Linus group have once again been given a stall at ‘Craft 4 Crafters’ in the Bath and West Show at Shepton Mallet.
“Project Linus have knitting and sewing groups all over the country but ours serves the RUH, Charlton Farm, Barnados and others. Our members make quilts, blankets and various arty things for neo-natal babies and for children in hospital.
“As we are unfunded, we are given the stall for free so we can make money to buy the wool, material and everything else we need to make the blankets.”
In order to continue their vital and widely-appreciated volunteer work, Linda is asking for craft donations: “If anyone has any crafting items - balls of wool, unopened material, tapestry frames etc that you can donate, we would be very grateful.”
The group, open to all, meet every month at Conygre Hall, in Timsbury, this month they will meet on Friday, 29th September from 10am-2pm.
