A caring 10-year-old boy from Regil has spent weeks crafting bracelets to raise money to help homeless people.
Max Littler (pictured), who attends Chew Stoke Primary School, has always felt passionately about helping the homeless, and over the Christmas holidays he learned how to make bracelets using cotton thread and twine. He then decided to try to raise some money for charity by making and selling bracelets of all different colours.
He chose to raise funds for Help Bristol’s Homeless charity, given his awareness and concern for helping the homeless locally.
Proud mum Georgie said: “He spent four weeks tirelessly taking orders, weaving bracelets and delivering them to the local community; neighbours, school mates and friends from further afield. In total, he raised £200.”
On 21st March, Jasper H Thompson, CEO and founder of Help Bristol’s Homeless invited Max and his brother, Charlie to visit the charity based in Bedminster, to learn more about how his funds would help.
Georgies added: “Jasper showed us round the site which is made up of shipping containers that have been transformed into beautiful homes for people needing a residence.
“There are also facilities including showers, loos, a dining room and kitchen providing meals for those living on the street. We met some of the current residents and heard how they came to be living there. We even met the site’s resident cat!
“Max learned that his fundraising would go towards some bedding plants for spring to add some colour to the site, food for the outreach programme and perhaps even towards the 10 new units that will soon be developed.
“We then went for a celebratory dinner in the pub!”
