Time is Precious, the local charity which helps make life easier for children and their families who are having to spend time in hospital, is appealing for new toys to make Christmas a little happier this year.

It follows last year’s successful initiative, which saw around 150 new presents donated by the community for sick children and their siblings, who are often having to spend time in hospital as well, visiting. The presents were given out by Father Christmas at the RUH, Bristol Children’s Hospital and also in Yeovil.

Neil Halford, from Time is Precious, said: “Last year’s Christmas present project was a great success, and as well as donating to children and teens who are undergoing hospital treatment, we also wanted to be able to give to their siblings, too, who are going through it as well – often life is on hold for everyone until the sick child gets better. The parents in the hospitals last year were so pleased to see their children with smiles on their faces.

“We would love people to donate new toys, games, DVDs, books, chocolate, anything as long as it is new – and it can be for children aged from birth to sixteen. We have a drop-off point at Eye Tech IT in Midsomer Norton, at St Chad’s Avenue, and this year, people can also leave presents at our Christmas Fayre, which will be held at Prattens Social Club on Sunday, 4th December.

“We are also grateful to the Well-being Committee at Sun Chemical, who are going to be helping us this year with wrapping all of the presents.

The Christmas Fayre will be held from 12 noon – 4 p.m. and everyone is welcome to come along for facepainting, Santa’s Grotto, stalls, characters and refreshments.
