Plans for a community shop to serve the people of Farmborough, have received a boost with a donation of £10,000 from home-builder, Blue Cedar Homes.
The team behind the planned shop are currently holding a community share offer, hoping to raise up to £150,000 towards the venture by selling shares to members of the public. In total, the scheme will cost an estimated £315,000, including building an extension to Farmborough's Memorial Hall to accommodate the shop.
Now, South West-based Blue Cedar Homes, who are building Holly Gardens, a development in the village for the over-55s, have given the Community Shop Committee a donation of £10,000. Nick Cooper, Blue Cedar Homes' Area Director, said: "We're thrilled to be able to help get this exciting initiative up and running. Shops like this are a real asset to any community and deserve to be supported by as many people and organisations as possible."
Chair of the Farmborough Community Shop Management Committee, Mark Swabey, said: "We are extremely grateful to Blue Cedar Homes for this generous donation. This will help us get closer to being able to get the shop built, stocked and staffed, so we can achieve our aim of serving and benefitting as many people in our community as possible."
