In 2020, Midsomer Quilting, at Manor Farm in Chilcompton, staged a major exhibition devoted entirely to quilts made by men and boys. Such a thing had never happened in Britain before and attracted international recognition. The interest and demand was so great, the shop was asked to repeat it.

Last time all the contributors had a connection to the shop, but this time the only condition is that the makers must be Brits.

Thirty-six men and boys are taking part, and their 110 quilts represent quilters of all ages and ability. The youngest taking part is seven. Four of the quilts have been made by a quilter who is arguably among the top twenty (of either sex) in the world. And no more than ten of the quilts are ‘bed quilts’!

Last weekend, one visitor wrote in the visitors’ book: “I’m not a quilter, but your exhibition is magnificent - such amazing talent and imagination.”

The exhibition is at Midsomer Quilting (BA3 4HP) and runs from 10am to 4pm, every day until Monday, May 16th.

Admission is free, and, as with all Midsomer Quilting’s exhibitions, all proceeds will go to Dorothy House Hospice.
