A national dog charity is throwing open the doors to its 20th birthday celebrations and inviting local people to join them for a very special event.

Hosted by Honorary Friends of the charity, the actor, Anthony Head and his wife, Sarah Fisher, the event at Tilley Farm, Timsbury Road, Farmborough, near Bath, promises to be the highlight of the summer for all dog lovers.

Both humans and their canine companions are invited to attend the party, which is being held on Saturday, 9th July, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Events at the party include a fun dog show, country walks, holistic hound corner, which will include canine massage and T-Touch, refreshments and merchandise stands.

Jan Lake, who lives near Bath, has been Chair of Trustee’s for the organisation for the last 15 years, and says this is an important day for them. “We are delighted to be able to hold such a wonderful celebration and our thanks go to Anthony Head and Sarah Fisher for their generosity in hosting this for us. GRWE has only been able to achieve what it has over the last twenty years thanks to the hard work and dedication of our wonderful and enormous team of volunteers. Many of our volunteers will be attending the party, as well as lots of the dogs we have found homes for over the years and some of the dogs we have in our care at the moment who are still looking for homes. We want to be able to celebrate our achievements with local people, and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.”

After twenty years of rescuing and finding homes for greyhounds and lurchers, GRWE has plenty to celebrate and the event will also mark the launch of a new name for the charity, the ‘Forever Hounds Trust’. CEO, Rachel Grocott, explains: “Over the last two decades, the work of GRWE has significantly expanded. We now operate throughout the whole of England, and help all breeds of sighthound to find the forever homes they desperately need. While our roots will always be in the West of England, we needed a name that better represented the breadth of the work we do.”
