Local runner and Radstock Hairdresser, Jean Meredith, has completed yet another running challenge to raise money for local causes, having raised thousands of pounds over the years through her endeavours.
Jean completed the Great South run, a ten mile race in Southsea, as well as a 10K run in Benidorm, raising £900 to be split between Radstock Methodist Church and Clic Sargent.
The donations have come from her customers and from the congregation at the church. Jean said: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated.”
Mike Martin, who received the money last week on behalf of the Methodist Church, said: “Church funds are always hard pressed, so the work that Jean and others do to help support us is always greatly appreciated.”
Jean’s next challenge is a personal one – after running seventy miles to mark her seventieth birthday, she is now planning to run fifty miles with her husband to mark their fiftieth Wedding Anniversary.
The pair will be taking on a route through the Cotswolds to raise money for the RUH and the local Parkinson’s UK branch.
