Community Groups in Midsomer Norton are being invited to apply for a grant in the last round to be considered by Midsomer Norton Town Council for the Municipal year 2017–18. Groups based in Midsomer Norton, or with members from Midsomer Norton, can apply for a grant, ranging from a hundred to several thousand pounds.
The Council continues to support a wide range of groups through the grants process (including charities, voluntary groups and community groups). Since it began to consider applications for grants in 2011, it has made awards totalling over £159,000. Recent successful applications include those from the Midsomer Norton Farmers Market, AGE UK, St John’s Primary School, Wansdyke Play Association and Barn Poetry.
“We continue to see a wide range and variety of community groups and charities applying for a grant from the Town Council,” said Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Steve Plumley. “This year, we have tried to provide applicants with the full amount they ask us for within our budget.
Although we have had to reduce some awards, so that we can help as many groups as possible, the feedback we have received is that Community Grants continue to breathe life into a wide range of local causes.
Applications should be supported by clear evidence that people in the town will benefit from the funding, which ideally will be used towards a specific project which meets the Council’s criteria. Details of the criteria, application forms and guidance notes are available at: www.midsomer nortontowncouncil.co.uk – the Town Clerk can help with any questions about eligibility and the award process (call: 01761 418701). The Council will consider applications at its meeting in March 2018 and the closing date is Friday, 19th January 2018.
