Local artist hosts watercolour workshops in aid of children’s charity Watercolour workshop for all abilities is open for bookings Faulkland Village Hall will host a new series of art workshops giving people the skills to enjoy and explore watercolour painting, in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), from Wednesday, 8th March.

David Graham, who sells his own watercolours to raise money for the charity, is inviting people to book onto the course to learn the basic technical skills to paint in watercolour, as well as giving artistic insight and inspiration for people with painting experience.

Artist and tutor David Graham, said: “If you’d like to start a new hobby this year or revitalise an interest in painting please do join us.

“Everyone is capable of producing something to be proud of and we’ll be working in a friendly and supportive small group. Some people will find it easier than others but the main requirement is practice and perseverance, not talent!”

David will be sharing skills and insight learned from workshops he has attended across Europe with some of the world’s best known watercolourists.

This is the second year of the workshop, and Jane and Jeff Evans who attended in 2022 said: “David’s course gave us an informative introduction to watercolour landscape painting. He shared his experience of the techniques and different styles through practical demonstrations and individual advice delivered in a relaxed and supportive manner. We would thoroughly recommend the course to anyone wishing to explore the magic of watercolour.”

Complete beginner on the course, Paul Shepherd said: “David’s relaxed and patient style was most helpful and encouraging. He advised on all the materials I’d need and provided useful notes on the topics we covered each week, all of which he discussed and demonstrated, while leaving plenty of time for us to practice ourselves with his one-on-one guidance as required. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.”

David sells his art in aid of children’s charities, raising over £15,000 to date. Since 2021 he has fundraised for CHSW and all profits from the workshop will go direct to the charity to help make the most of short and precious lives.

The course will run from Wednesday, 8th March at Faulkland Village Hall from 2-4.30pm for eight weeks. The total cost will be £120 (£15 per session), with £100 per person donated direct to CHSW to help the charity support families in need across the South West.
