A number of bus services in and around Bath and Wiltshire will change from the end of August as First adjusts some of its local services.

In addition, two further bus routes – both serving university campuses in Bath, will be altered from 21st September in preparation for students returning to the city.

Bus services operating on Sundays and Public Holidays between Bath, Bristol, Radstock and Midsomer Norton have also been reviewed.

Specifically, First say improvements are being made to Service 38, between Bristol and Bath, which will bring a new Sunday and Public Holiday timetable into force, giving people along the route opportunities to travel on these days. This will particularly benefit people in Keynsham's Park Estate, who will gain a direct service to Bath on these days.

People in Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Paulton and Farmborough, using Service 178, should benefit from changes which will see journeys on Sundays and Public Holidays extended to operate to and from Bristol. This change will double the opportunities to travel on these days from these places.

There are changes to Service 177/178 (Bath – Bristol), specifically, the timetable for Service 177 is being withdrawn on Public Holidays and Sundays, however, Service 178 is being enhanced at the same time. The latter will see the route on these days extended, so that most journeys run between Bath and Bristol (instead of Bath and Midsomer Norton/Paulton as at present). First say this will give people living in Radstock, Midsomer Norton, Paulton and Farmborough at least twice as many opportunities to travel to and from Bristol, on Sundays/Public Holidays, once the changes are made. People living in Keynsham (Park Estate) or Writhlington concerned about the withdrawal of Service 177 on Sundays and Public Holidays should note that Services 38 and 179 will provide alternatives for them.

Service 179 (Bath – Midsomer Norton) will have its route amended, as is the Sunday and Public Holiday timetable. On Sundays and Public Holidays, the timetable is also being amended and all journeys are being extended to serve Writhlington via Radstock.

In Writhlington, buses will start and terminate at Manor Park. Elsewhere, across all days of operation, buses in Midsomer Norton will start and terminate at Midsomer Norton Library, from 31st August.
