Writhlington restident, Richard Miner, who changed his name by deed poll to Speed Rebel, is undertaking a gruelling 963-mile journey from Land’s End, Falmouth to John O’Groats, Scotland by bicycle for Prostatue Cancer UK.
Speed explained: “I have chosen to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK in memory of my grandfather, who had the disease when he died and to celebrate my father’s recent all-clear after a successful course of treatment, along with two of my uncles who have also been successfully treated, yet one has had a relapse.
“It would therefore seem my family bloodline has a genetic disposition to this common disease, making this a simple choice of charity.
Speed has created a JustGiving page for his challenge, which has currently raised £2,397 of at the time of writing, only £503 off his £2,900 aim.
Speed’s journey will take place on 12th June. To donate, please visit: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/speedrebellejog
